Bengawan Solo
Video info
Got this video when I went to Solo city. It’s at Solo Balapan Railway Station. If you’re lucky, you will find them playing this kind of music — and they play lots of song, most of them are keroncong. The players are becak (rickshaw) drivers waiting for train passengers. Usually, they are in action in the afternoon.
In this video, they’re playing Bengawan Solo, a famous song by Gesang. It’s a song about the famous Bengawan Solo River which flows through central and eastern Java. I think Bengawan Solo is the most popular keroncong song ever made.
