Short interview about Dadio.TV

Hey, where have we been? Here! Here! We know, we didn’t had any updates in the last few weeks. But, it does not mean that we didn’t do anything. We’re a little busy. Here is an update.

Last week, our friend asked us some questions about this video blog. Some of them are already answered here, but some of them are not. The question-and-answer session was by email and in Bahasa Indonesia (read the interview in Bahasa Indonesia). Purwanto, thank you! Here, I want to share about what we discussed during the interview… in English.

Why you created this Dadio.TV?

The reason is simple: we want to give alternative contents especially about Indonesia. Also, we want to involve in videoblogging growth/trend, especially in Indonesia. We choose video because there are some factors that (we think) make video contents better in delivering ideas or information, compared to text or photos.

How do you deal with the production cost?

Until today, we use our own money. Since the day we had an idea to create this site, we focused more on content production, rather than thinking about getting sponsors. This is something we like, and we’re ready with challenges we might face in the future. Of course, it would be great if there is/are someone interested in sponsoring us.

What about the targeted audience? And, what platforms you’re using?

Since the day we uploaded our first video (first video was uploaded to YouTube on April 20, 2010), we use some medium to get viewership like Twitter and Facebook. We use YouTube as our primary video sharing provider, but we also put non-video contents to our site. In our site, we share some stories related to our videos. Also, some stories behind video productions.

For the publishing platform, we use WordPress for its flexibility. The other reason is that because we’re familiar with it. It just works for us and meets the technical need in site production. Until today, we haven’t used any paid advertisements to attract viewers.

Anything you want to add?

Even this whole videoblog is something we do as hobby, but we want to execute this with plans and concepts. We do have our own production standards, and when it comes to the production schedule (especially going for a production) we try to stick to the schedule.
